BACSÓ – KÁLLAI RETROSPEKTÍV
A few years ago we planned to invite them to our festival to have them participate in a round table forum, but unfortunately their health condition did not allow it anymore. First The Director departed, then The Actor, leaving behind them this whole range of excellent works. As a sign of respect, we are going to serve a few pieces of these to the BuSho audience screened from copies with English subtitles!

PÉTER BACSÓ 1928, KASSA - 2009, BUDAPEST
After graduating from the Academy of Performing Arts (1950), he became a dramaturgist-scenarist at Hunnia Film Studio and wrote several scripts (Tale of 12 Shots, Sweet Anna, Two Half-Times in Hell, A Moral Night, ...). From 1951 he gave lectures at the Academy of Performing Arts, and from 1963 he made films. Between 1973 and 1991 he worked as an artistic director at Dialogue Studio. His most reputed film, The Witness, a bitter satire of the fifties' political trials was banned for ten years. In 1994 The Witness Again reacquaints the viewer with the elder protagonist, now exposed to the challenges of the newly founded pluralistic democracy in Hungary.
FERENC KÁLLAI 1925, GYOMA - 2010, BUDAPEST
He was one of the greatest persons of Hungarian dramatic art in the 20th century. His work includes several films and a great number of theatrical plays. His activity was appreciated by numerous awards, for instance the Mari Jászai Prize (1956, 1958) or the Kossuth Prize (1973), He was life member of the National Theatre (1989), obtained the Cross of the Order of Merit of the Republic of Hungary (1995), etc. One of the most remarkable roles attributed to ’the Actor of the Nation’ he played was as József Pelikán, the dike keeper, the hero of 'The Witness', directed by Péter Bacsó.

LÁSZLÓ RIMÓCZI: The world’s shortest films
It was the late 1920’s when the significant change happened by the talking picture replacing silent film. At this time they shot a few quite short films for experimentation and these were the so called ’very very short films’ which are by now only known to film experts. This genre’s biggest advantage is that it can be shot with low budget, the actors don’t need to learn pages of script just a few lines. In the compilation we’d like to erect a visual statue of this forgotten genre by showing screenshots from the most popular ones. |

Augusztus 31. 20:00 VAKONDOS ZENEKAR http://www.vakondoszenekar.ucoz.com
The band was formed in the end of 2008 with the members of X and Y from a senseless initiation. This initiation remained, although X and Y (and also Z) are now gone. On a buttered dawn of an unidentified day of 2009 Gimpi - the one member band at the time – met Silye Roland Mötal (Mötal) at a pub in Debrecen and after playing through the night they made Vakondos Band reborn with only 3 songs in their pocket and a guitar in their hand. Right after that they drank themselves under the table. |

Szeptember 1. 22:00 DEEP HUSKY
They owe their existence to a concert in December.
When they play, they use all kind of sounds at once in pell-mell rythms. You can define their style as an analogue screamy rock-pop-core, modified in psychedelic manner - at the best time ever!
When you listen to them your favourite band definitely crosses your mind; only just, of course.
They love playing certain special places for example exhibition openings, design events, cinemas, top of houses, swimming pools and the Planetarium… meanwhile the guys follow airline the Phylosoohy of Deep Husky! Starting time: 10pm on Wednesday! |

Szeptember 2 21:00 QUANTUM COWBOYS http://www.myspace.com/quantumcowboys
The band plays electro punk-pop music since 2005. The members are refugees of the nineties, who for various reasons couldn’t live up to their reputation then, and so completing their mission in the 21st century. A hard line of Dj technology is integrated into the more traditional pop-rock song structures, which is the Quantum sound itself. The band has been playing in eclectic locations, managing also to put out their first album, titled “Ruler”. The song “Just right” was selected into the 2010 Tilos Radio annual compilation. |

Szeptember 3. 23:00 AZ http://www.azmusic.hu
The band called AZ (short for Anesz and Zozi, the forming members of the group) started it's life in Budapest in 2007. After a couple of years of experimenting, the current formation is Anesz Szalai (vocals/ keyboards), Zozi Demeter (bass) and Zoltan Ujj (drums). All of the band members got their skills honed in other, well known formations (Magashegyi Underground, Soerii & Poolek, etc.). AZ's unique style and distinctive sound falls into the genre of electronic music. Along with their original songs they also play tunes from Bjork in their own interpretation. |

Szeptember 4. 2:00 WARN!NG http://www.myspace.com/warninghun
WARN!NG was established in 2009 by Balázs Sziklai (guitar), Dániel Mátravölgyi (bass, keyboards) and Mátyás Tóth (drums). Gergő Sós (jew's harp, folk instruments) joined the group soon and in january 2010 we recorded our first demo called Medicine. There were some attempts to use singers but it didn't work so WARN!NG stayed instrumental. The band was established to create something new. All of us represents different kind of music and we want to mix these styles. We use classic rock and metal patterns that can be mix together with folk and electronic music. The danceable but innovative sounding with electronics and effects gives the pulsation of the band. |
