SELECTED MOVIES: Competition | Information | Hungarian

Our statistics displayed 1200 shorts from almost 80 countries, our pre-jury, consisting of 6 members performed the screening in a 3 month-period. 68 shorts made it into the competition (representing 28 countries), beside the largest European countries we had submitters from Azerbaijan, Bahrain, China, Iran, Malta or Taiwan. The 3 countries that have submitted the most films at the initial entry are the ones who represent themselves with the most films in competitions as well, Hungarian films being in pole position utilizing the home-court advantage. Nevertheless, the casted shadow of match-fixing is quickly dissolved by the remark of Edina Csüllög, our pre-jury member living and working in Estonia:
"I guess this year was a great year for Hungarian short films. I have not seen so many good films from them in the last years. The overall selection somehow was easier maybe because I was looking for real pearls!"

Ákos Mester, multimedia gap manager:
"During the selection I felt many times I was sitting in the heart-warming cinema of Cinema Paradiso, other times I felt I had to sit through a screening in A Clockwork Orange... Thanks for the creators for the experience!"

Asia Dér, freelancer film maker:
"I found it rather interesting that – compared to the previous years’ entries – we had much fewer films dealing with social and human rights problems. Regarding the fact that the creators of the films represent the younger generation by and large, it makes one ponder what kind of conclusions to draw from this phenomenon."

László Rimóczi, well-to-do online journalist:
"I follow the KISS-rule while screening, for I have only one frame of reference: if I am bored the audience will be as well! I couldn't care less about the budget of the film, the craftsmanship of the lighting director, the uber-modern technology they used for shooting, how wretched-y the protagonist actress looks, how many bears were awarded to the film in Berlin, if the end result is a lullaby. A nicely shot nada does not impress me, what only counts is how it will look on the silver screen. The artists whom we present are outstanding and groundbreaking creators or Tami’s pals."

Annaida Orosz–Tamás Patrovits, animation section:
"There are plentiful of good animations, but the real deal is only presented at BuSho." (And naturally at Primanima which is administered by our animation pre-jury --G.T.)
Among the Hungarians there are more re-entrant creators – without being exhaustive: Attila Bertóti, Dávid Géczy, Gábor Hörcher or Ábel Visky made their debuts at Busho earlier, but we also carry on with the successful tradition of screening each submitted Hungarian creation submitted Hungarian creation on Saturday in the Puskin movie theater, starting in the morning. To our great delight more (and more) foreign film makers grace us again with their presence. The successful animation from Moldova, "Dji Death fails" has a sequel, which we will be lucky to see, and let’s not forget the Italian duo Werther Germondari and Laura Maria Spagnoli whose oeuvre encompasses mainly experimental films. We will also present the winner of the EFA Short Film Category, "The Chicken" by Una Gunjak, made in German-Croatian coproduction and which was in competition with Szabó Simon’s The Wall. The French war-musical, Amour et Commando made it also into the competition, and the Informational Section, will also show many surprises from among the films that could not make it into the competition. We struggled quite a bit with the abundance of films, and it wouldn’t have been difficult to categorize twice as many films as competitors, but – just like every year – our fantasies were interrupted by the harsh reality of time constraint, for the festival runs for only a short week. At the moment we are waiting for the screening copies from the creators, further details will be presented before the beginning. Those who like quality short films should not miss BuSho Edition no 11. in the first week of September in Puskin Cinema or at Budapest Rooftop Cinema Corvintető, or at our affiliated venues in the country side or across the borders.

11. BUSHO VERSENYPROGRAM 2015

KIVÁLASZTOTT FILMEK: Verseny | Információs | Magyar

A nevezések zárásakor a statisztikák közel 1200 rövidfilmet mutattak majd 80 országból, melyet a 6 tagú előzsűri 3 hónapon keresztül mustrált. Közülük végül 68 alkotás került a versenyprogramba, mintegy 28 országból, az európai nagyok mellett olyan különleges helyekről, mint Azerbajdzsán, Bahrein, Kína, Irán, Málta vagy Tajvan. Az összes nevezéskor legtöbb filmet beküldő 3 ország képviselteti magát a legtöbb alkotással a versenyben is, a hazai pálya előnyét kihasználva a magyar filmekkel az élen, bár a bundázás gyanúját gyorsan ellensúlyozza az egyik előzsűri véleménye, Csüllög Edina, Észtországban élő és alkotó filmrendező:

"Azt hiszem ez egy kiemelkedő év a magyar rövidfilmek számára, hiszen nem láttam ennyi jó filmet tőlük az utóbbi években. A válogatás pedig összességében valahogy könnyebbnek tűnt, persze lehet, hogy azért, mert igazi gyöngyszemeket kerestem!"

Mester Ákos, multimedia gap manager:
"Az előzsűrizés során sokszor éreztem magam a Cinema Paradiso szívmelengető mozijában, de voltak pillanatok, mikor a Mechanikus Narancs vetítőtermében "kellett ülnöm". Köszönet érte az alkotóknak."

Dér Asia, szabadúszó filmes:
"Az elmúlt évek film nevezéseihez képest meglepő volt számomra, hogy sokkal kevesebb a társadalmi, emberi jogi problémákkal foglalkozó film. Tekintve, hogy a nevzők többsége fiatal, elgondolkodtató, hogy milyen következtetés vonható le ebből."

Rimóczi László, módos online újságíró:
"Egyszerűen zsűrizek, mert számomra csak egyetlen szempont van: ha unatkozom, pontosan ugyanazt fogja majd csinálni a néző is a moziteremben. Mindegy, hogy mekkora költségvetésből készült, milyen szépen van bevilágítva, mennyire modern technikával rögzítették, milyen szenvedékeny a színésznő képe, hány díjat nyert Berlinben, ha a végeredmény altatódal. Nem hat meg egy szépen felvett semmi, az számít, hogyan néz ki majd a vásznon. Akiket mi vetítünk, azok mind kiemelkedő és átütő alkotók, vagy a Tami haverjai."

Orosz Annaida-Patrovits Tamás, animátor szekció:
"Sok a jó animációs kisfilm, de az igazán vagányak csakis a Busho fesztiválon láthatók." (És természetesen az animációs előzsűri duett által dirigált Primanimán --- G.T.)

A magyarok közül – természetesen a teljesség igénye nélkül - több visszatérő alkotó, mint Bertóti Attila, Géczy Dávid, Hörcher Gábor vagy épp Visky Ábel is felbukkant már korábban nálunk, de a versenyen kívül folytatjuk azt a nagy sikerű hagyományt, hogy valamennyi magyar benevezett alkotást levetítjük szombaton reggeltől kezdve a Puskin moziban. Nagy örömünkre azonban a külföldiek között is van több visszatérő. Az évekkel ezelőtti nagysikerű moldáv animáció, a Dji Death Fails folytatása, vagy épp a Werther Germondari - Laura Maria Spagnoli, főként kísérleti filmekkel felvonuló olasz alkotópáros is. Műsoron lesz az európai filmdíj rövidfilm kategória győztese a német-horvát koprodukcióban készült The Chicken, Una Gunjak filmje, aki Szabó Simonnal versengett tavaly, de versenybe került az Amour et Commando című francia háborús musical is, és a versenyről egy hajszállal lemaradt információs szekció is tartogat rengeteg meglepetést. Természetesen ezúttal is a bőség zavarával küzdöttünk és nem okozott volna problémát pont kétszer ennyi filmet versenybe sorolni, azonban mint mindig, most is gátat szabott fantáziálgatásunknak az időkorlát, mert csak nem egész egy hétig tart a fesztivál! Most várjuk a vetítési kópiákat az alkotóktól, bővebb részleteket majd a kezdés előtt osztunk meg a közönséggel, de aki szereti a minőségi rövidfilm csemegéket, idén se maradjon le a BuSho fesztiválról szeptember első hetében a Puskin moziban, a Budapest Rooftop Cinema Corvintetőn vagy valamelyik vidéki vagy határon túli helyszínünkön.

SELECTED FILMMAKERS ATTENTION!!!

Hereby we would like to ask the creators displayed on the list to SEND US THEIR SCREENING COPIES until the 20th of July with the parameters set out below. Please note that if the screening copy will not arrive until the 20th of July we will substitute these films with films from the Panorama section, and the missing films will be completely omitted.
ONLY accepted formats: Frame rate 25 or 50 fps / resolution: 1920x1080 / codec h264 mov or mp4 / maximum bitrate 50 MBit / 48 kHz 16 bit stereo / ENGLISH SUBTITLES (BURNED IN - NOT OPTIONAL)

There are 3 ways to send the creations:
1. uploading it to the FTP-server of BuSho at maximum 1 Gb size (we send you authorization should you choose this option),
2. sending it via WeTransfer at maximum 2 Gb size – https://www.wetransfer.com
3. or if you send a downloadable link for an own server up to 4 Gb size.

Deadline: 20 July 2015

We kindly ask you to CHECK the data displayed in the list and SEND a web address for the film that we can publish in the catalogue. We will send you an excerpt of the catalogue before the finalization for press by which you can check the screenshot for the film and the synopsis as well – in case you haven’t sent it yet, please do so ASAP.
The creators of the works displayed on the list may select the Official logo according to their taste here.
Those who would like to attend the festival in person can apply for an accreditation until the 20th of July by filling out the accreditation form.

BEVÁLOGATOTT ALKOTÓK FIGYELEM!!!

Ezúton szeretnénk kérni a linkeken található alkotókat, hogy a következő paraméterek szerint küldjék be vetítési kópiájukat legkésőbb július 20-ig. Amennyiben eddig az időpontig nem érkezik meg a film, úgy a versenyprogramban az információból helyettesítjük őket, a többiek pedig egyszerűen kimaradnak.

Háromféle módon küldhetitek be az alkotást:
1. töltsd fel a BuSho ftp-re, maximum 1 Gb méretben (ha ezt választod, küldjük a belépőt),

3. küldj egy saját letölthető linket maximum 4 Gb méretig.

Kérünk benneteket, hogy legyetek szívesek leellenőrizni a listában szereplő adatokat, és küldjetek egy webcímet a filmhez, melyet nyilvánosságra hozhatunk majd a katalógusban! A nyomdai zárás előtt el fogjuk küldeni nektek a katalógus kivonatát, melyben leellenőrizhetitek majd a filmhez tartozó képet, szinopszist is, amelyeket szintén várunk, ha még nem küldtetek. Külön kérjük a magyar alkotókat, hogy külön szíveskedjenek elküldeni a magyar és az angol szinopszist is a filmjükhöz, mert ez évről évre visszatérő probléma és nem tudjuk kitalálni a gondolataitokat.
A listákon szereplő alkotások kiválaszthatják a következő helyről a nekik tetsző Official Selection logót.
Amennyiben szeretnétek személyesen részt venni a fesztiválon azt szintén a következő egy hónapban jelezhetitek az akkreditációs oldalon tehát július 20-ig.

BUSHO MAIN PATRON, THE VISEGRAD FUND TURNS 15!

BRATISLAVA - On June 9, 2015, the International Visegrad Fund marks 15 years since its establishment in 2000. The fund was established as the only organization of the Visegrad Group (V4), the regional alliance among the Czech Republic, Hungary, Poland, and Slovakia. The fund's principle aims have been the long-term support of the development of civil society in the region, fostering of intern-institutional cross-border cooperation, the region’s cohesion and visibility, as well as the transfer of transformation know-how of the V4 countries to non-EU member states in the Western Balkans and the Eastern Partnership countries. In the past 15 years, the fund awarded over 6,000 grant projects, individual scholarships and artists-in-Read residence arrangements in more than 35 countries in total worth more than €61 million.
"I believe it is the work of the fund that contributed the most to the success of "Visegrád" being a recognized regional brand. The fund proved not only to be a source of money for citizens and institutions dealing with cross-border cooperation, but also became a unique instrument for sharing the firsthand experience and expertise the V4 countries gained from the transformation period and the EU accession," said Karla Wursterová, the Fund's Executive Director.

15 ÉVES A VISEGRÁDI ALAP, A BUSHO FŐTÁMOGATÓJA!

POZSONY – 2015. június 9-én ünnepli 2000-ben történt alapításának 15. évfordulóját az Alap, mely a Visegrádi Négyek (V4) – azaz a Cseh Köztársaság, Lengyelország, Magyarország, és Szlovákia regionális szövetsége – egyetlen közös szervezeteként alakult. Az Alap fő célkitűzései közé tartozott a régióban a civil társadalom hosszú távú támogatása, a határokon átnyúló gyakornok-intézményi együttműködés támogatása, valamint a V4 országokban lezajlott átalakulás tapasztalatainak megosztása a nyugat-balkáni országokkal és a keleti partnerség országaival. Az elmúlt 15 évben az Alap mintegy 6000 támogatási projektet, egyéni ösztöndíjat, valamint tartózkodási megegyezéseket finanszírozott 35 országra kiterjedően, több, mint 61 millió euró értékben.
"Meggyőződésem, hogy az Alap munkája járult a legerőteljesebben hozzá, hogy mára "Visegrád" egy regionális márkanévvé vált. Az Alap nemcsak a határokon átnyúló együttműködésekben érdekelt polgárok és intézmények forrásbiztosításában segített, hanem a V4 országok által az átalakulási időszak és az EU-csatlakozás során szerzett tapasztalatok megosztásának egyedülálló eszköze is egyben" – foglalta össze az Alap tevékenységét Karla Wursterová, az Alap igazgatója.

A Ház a Réten Közhasznú Kulturális Egyesület, az Aranytíz Kultúrház és a POLIFILM Műhely Közhasznú Alapítvány 22. alkalommal rendezi meg filmmel és videóval foglalkozó ifjú alkotók részére az Országos Diákfilmszemlét.

Az előzsűri javaslatára, a versenyprogramba nem került, 20 percnél hosszabb filmeket, információs blokkban vetítjük, a szemle ideje alatt. A vetítések után naponta a szakmai zsűri vezetésével nyilvános konzultációt tartunk az alkotók és az érdeklődők számára. Az arra érdemes alkotásokat a zsűri véleménye szerint díjazzuk.

DRAMA PITCHING LAB 2015 - PITCHING WORKSHOP – PITCHING FORUM

Drama Mini talent Lab (14 – 18 September 2015)
DEADLINE for submissions: 20th July 2015

Pitching: They say that when you know how to present your idea briefly and as a comprehensive proposal so as to attract somebody's attention, you can write your script correctly. And because it is important to condense what you want to say into one or two lines, especially in short films, this means you have almost completed it. Knowing how to secure funding is not only useful, it also means that you can communicate your idea and both you and your producer are open to an international market whose conditions you know. After the script and dramaturgy, pitching is this part of the education that completes projects and brings movies into existence.
For the 2^nd consecutive year, in the context of the Educational Platform DRAMA MINI TALENT LAB, the Festival in Drama, runs the DRAMA PITCHING LAB workshop on presentation and pitching techniques to directors / producers.

1. PITCHING WORKSHOP: Young filmmakers and producers will participate in training sessions and learn how to present a project for a short film [no longer than 15 'min] to producers and secure potential funding…

The final selection of the projects will be announced by the 10th of August 2015.
