BUSHO BREAKING NEWS 2017/4. --- AFTER DEADLINE

  13th BUSHO SUBMISSION CLOSED

In accordance to previous years the registering timeline from 1-Dec to 15-April has come to its end on all platforms for 13th BuSho. The usual number of entries were received which again counts around one thousand. Half of the entries came through Filmfreeway, the rest were mainly devided on BuSho’s own portal and Reelport. You can take a closer look into these on our website while the detailed statistics will be announced once all got summarised. The most important deadlines are listed on our website! We’d like to ask all subscribers to regularly check their spam folder of mailing system and if you made your entry please remember the date 15th June. If you do not receive acknowledgement of your submission, please take a look on our website where all results will also be displayed. Now the main role is with the pre-jury and the filmmakers can cross fingers if they want to be part of the competition of the 13th BuSho Festival. Good luck!

  13. BUSHO: A NEVEZÉS LEZÁRVA

Az évek óta jól bevált ritmus szerint a december 1.-I nyitást követően április 15.-én minden platformon egyszerre lezárult a nevezés az idei 13. BuSho Fesztiválra, melyre ugyancsak szokásosnak mondható ezer körüli nevezés érkezett. A beérkezett nevezések fele a Filmfreeway rendszerén keresztül érkezett, ezután a BuSho saját online platformján jött ca. 250 nevezés, a harmadik nagyobb csomagot pedig a Reelporton keresztül küldték az alkotók. A BuSho felületre érkezett nevezésekben tudtok böngészni a weboldalunkon, a részletes statisztikákat pedig az összesítést követően jelezzük majd. A legfontosabb időpontokat felsoroltuk a weboldalon, de továbbra is szeretnénk minden nevezőt megkérni, hogy a különböző levelező rendszerekben működő spamfilterek miatt, aki nevezett, az vésse be magának a június 15-i dátumot, és ha nem kapja meg az értesítőt, akkor is vessen egy pillantást a weboldalunkra, ahol szintén közzé tesszük majd az eredményeket! Most tehát főszerepben az előzsűri, az alkotók pedig szurkoljanak, ha idén szeretnének részt venni a 13. BuSho Nemzetközi Rövidfilm Fesztiválon! Hajrá!

  EFFE LABEL FOR BUSHO

Just before Easter, we have got the following mail from the European Festivals Association: "We are delighted to inform you that BUDAPEST SHORT FILM FESTIVAL has been selected to receive the EFFE Label 2017-2018. BUDAPEST SHORT FILM FESTIVAL is now part of the EFFE festival community, facilitated by the European Festivals Association, which consists of festivals that stand for artistic quality and have a significant impact on the local, national and international level. Your festival received the following feedback:

Great festival for short pieces, excellent concept,
 high quality alternative film festival.

The official announcement will take place during the EFFE MeetUp in Wiesbaden on 4 May where you as EFFE Label 2017-2018 are invited for an exchange and networking event. More tools on how to promote your festivals as EFFE Label Festival including press release will be provided after the official announcement.

  EURÓPAI FESZTIVÁL SZÖVETSÉG ELISMERÉS

Húsvét előtt kaptuk a következő üzenetet az Európai Fesztivál Szövetségtől: Örömmel tudatjuk, hogy a BUDAPESTI RÖVIDFILM FESZTIVÁL elnyerte az EFFE 2017-2018 címet. Mostantól a BuSho része az EFFE fesztiválközösségnek, az Európai Fesztivál Szövetség égisze alatt, melynek tagjai minőségi, művészeti fesztiválok, melyek mind helyi, nemzeti és nemzetközi szinten is hozzáadott értéket tudnak felmutatni. 

NAGYSZERŰ RENDEZVÉNY, KIVÁLÓ KONCEPCIÓ, CSÚCSMINŐSÉGŰ ALTERNATÍV FILM FESZTIVÁL!

A hivatalos eredményhirdetés és díjkiosztó az EFFE találkozóján lesz május 4.-én Wiesbadenben, melyet követően kiküldik majd a sajtóanyagokat is, Üdvözlettel: Az EFA elnöke és a Nemzetközi Zsűri tagjai.

  IN A FOREIGN LAND

Last year’s BuSho winner, The sound of concrete and it’s crew fulfilled their promise and as a delegate by BuSho they made it to the FEC Festival in Reus, Ankara as well as Akbank Sanat in Istambul. Director István Kovács told us: It was very exciting to show our movie in a completely different society. To see how easily the homeland point of view can meet this different aspect. They loved the movie and had plenty of questions in regards BuSho. They wanted to know what chances shortfilms get in Hungary to be seen by the public and how open spectators are for this genre of film. A big thanks for Cultural Institute, Áron and Gábor were friendly, helpful and interested in our work all the way, the whole event was well organized, so we are thankful for that. The preview of the Cifra3 Days of the Hungarian Film can be read here, while the upcoming German-Hungarian presentation in Stuttgart will be summarised in our next newsletter.

  AZ IDEGEN FÖLDÖN

A tavalyi BuSho győztes rövidfilm, a Betonzaj és alkotói beváltották ígéretüket és több egyéb fesztivál meghívás mellett a BuSho által delegálva jutottak el a katalin Reusban megrendezett FEC fesztiválra, Ankarába és a korábban már jelzett Akbank Sanat fesztiválra, Isztambzlba, melyről a rendező, Kocsács istván ezt írta nekünk: „Nagyon izgalmas volt megmutatni a filmet egy teljesen más kultúrájú közegben. Tapasztalni azt, hogy az itthoni látásmód mennyire tud találkozni ezzel a más közeggel. Szerették a filmet és sokat kérdeztek a BuSho-ról is és arról, hogy milyen lehetőségek vannak Magyarországon a rövidfilmek bemutatásában valamint, hogy mennyire nyitott a közönség erre a formátumra. A Kulturális Intézet előtt le a kalappal, Áron és Gábor végig barátságosak, érdeklődők voltak a munkánk iránt és emellett rendkívül szervezett módon zajlott az egész látogatás.   ULTRA BY BALÁZS SIMONYI, BUSHO FESTEXPERT

How far you have to go to get close to yourself? A unique insight into the pasts, hearts and minds of four everyday athletes embraced by the running director. Their dream and burden is to finish an extreme running race to test their limits, heal their souls and release their demons. ULTRA is a creative documentary about people who dedicate their lives to running, in order to compete in this radical journey. The movie follows them as they confront extreme hardship and surpass the limits of their strength, both in their body and their mind. Whether running to escape from their everyday life, to challenge ageing or to seek the supernatural, every runner gets a taste of immortality and experiences his own mortality… Balazs Simonyi is not just the director of the film, but one of these runners. He finished successfully many ultra races, especially Spartathlon 4 times in a row (2013-2016). Actually he never gave up any races. He introduces the audience to this unknown universe, and shares his naked feelings and thoughts on the road. A first hand experience. Balazs’s life was changed 10 years ago by running, it helped him to carry on. He ran more to get further and deeper. During this time he kept asking himself: Why do people run really long distances?   FESZTIVÁL SZAKÉRTŐNK ÚJ FILMJE: ULTRA!

A 246 km-es Spartathlon futóversenyt mutatja be kreatív dokumentumfilmjében Simonyi Balázs, aki maga is résztvevőként, 2016-ban negyedszerre küzdötte végig az extrém távot. Az HBO Europe és a SpeakEasyProject közös produkciójában készülő, nemzetközi fesztiválsikerekre számító, Ultra című filmet 2017-ben mutatják be Magyarországon, elsőként az HBO-n. A Spartathlon, az egyik leghíresebb ultramaratoni futóverseny, amelyen a versenyzőknek az Athén és Spárta közötti 246 km-es távot legfeljebb 36 óra kell teljesíteniük. Az extrém versenyre tavaly tizennégy magyar futó nevezett, köztük idén negyedszerre indult Simonyi Balázs filmrendező, akinek kreatív dokumentumfilmje erről a különleges futóversenyről szól majd, öt szereplőn keresztül bemutatva a személyes drámákat és motivációkat. A filmet 2017 tavaszán mutatják be az HBO-n és az HBO GO-n. A neves DOK.Incubator programba beválasztott film már elkészülte előtt is több filmfesztiválon kapott az utómunkát támogató díjat. the biggest international film festival devoted to the art and craft of cinematography has launched the selection process for its 25th anniversary edition. All filmmakers, producers and distributors are invited to submit feature films, documentaries, music videos, TV pilots and student etudes for the festival's consideration.
Please note the submission deadlines and do not miss your chance to submit your films or music videos.   BRAČ FILM FESTIVAL

We invite you to apply your short (up to 30 mins) fiction film to 3rd edition of Brač Film Festival which will be held from 10th to 12th August 2017 in Supetar, on the Island of Brač (Croatia). We encourage all filmmakers whose films are finished after August 2016 to get back to us with application form. Filmmakers whose films will be selected for screening will be invited to attend and represent their film on the festival.   LENOLA FILM FESTIVAL 2017

Entries have opened for the “Lenola inventa un film” Prize, the 19th international competition for short films on a theme. The closing date for films to take part is May 15, 2017 The theme of this edition is: EXPECTATIONS. Short films, with a maximum duration of 30 minutes are eligible to take part. Works have to be sent to “Associazione Culturale Cinema e Società Inventa un Film, Piazza Pandozj, 4 04025 Lenola (LT) Italy” . DVD of the films for submission must be sent by mail (with the indication “no commercial value”). Applicants will send their short films also through Dropbox or WeTransfer or FTP link (please remember to send also the password if necessary) to inventaunfilm@inventaunfilm.it . The file must be identified with the name of the director and the title of the film. Enrolment is free. The films will be screened at the beginning of August 2017.
