  14th BUSHO LAST CALL FOR ENTRIES

After closing of last year’s archiving, registration opens for next year’s 14th BuSho Festival. According to modern time challenges you can enter on our online submission platform which went again through some minor changes that can be red in our terms&conditions. Basically we expect shorts of fiction, animation and experimental that are made after 1-January-2016 and with length of maximum of 30 minutes. Beside the refreshed own platform we reduced alternatives of submissions, only reelport and filmfreeway will remain. The most important deadlines are listed on our website! We’d like to ask all subscribers to regularly check their spam folder of mailing system and if you made your entry please remember the date 15th June. If you do not receive acknowledgement of your submission, please take a look on our website where all results will also be displayed.

  ZÁRUL A 14. BUSHO NEVEZÉS

Az éves archívum bezárását követően, december 1-én ismét megkezdődött a nevezés a következő esztendőre, ezúttal immár a 14. BuSho Fesztiválra, természetesen a kor követelményeihez igazodva apróbb módosításokkal a szabályzatban és az online nevezési felületen is. Összességében tehát várjuk a 2016. január 1. után készült 30 percnél rövidebb fikciós, animációs és kísérleti alkotásokat a világ minden tájáról. A frissített saját felület mellett a korábbiakban folyamatosan bővülő egyéb platformokat leredukáltuk a minimumra és kizárólag a reelport valamint a filmfreeway marad a palettán! A legfontosabb időpontokat pedig felsoroltuk a weboldalon. Szeretnénk minden nevezőt megkérni, hogy a különböző levelező rendszerekben működő spamfilterek miatt, aki nevezett, az vésse be magának a június 15-i dátumot, és ha nem kapja meg az értesítőt, akkor vessen egy pillantást a weboldalunkra, ahol szintén közzé tesszük majd az eredményeket!

  MORE BUSHO PRESENTATIONS AROUND

The BuSho world road show was carrying on last month with presentations in a few places, but more intensively than ever. On 26-February The Balassi Institute of Ljubljana held a Hungarian film night, where the first part of the BuSho selection was showcased. The shorts and the festival was introduced by Matevz Jerman critic, and after that an informal discussion was opened for the public. We again recieved invitation from Mecal of Barcelona, where Ferenc Gorogh our translator was representing us. He managed to make new and valuable contacts with filmmakers during a ono-to-one breakfast. We got interests from Argentina, USA, Germany and of course Catalonia. The filmmakers got 2 minutes with each festival representatives of their choice to promote themselves. Just like on a rapid dating. We’ll see where will it go…Then there were two presentations overseas, one in New York at NYU Tisch and a few days later at the Bloomington University Film Club.

  BUSHO BEMUTATÓK, SŐT

Amint azt a legutóbbi hírlevelünkben már előrejeleztük, folytatódott a BuSho fesztivál filmjeiből összeállított válogatás prezentációja, még pedig nyugodtan kijelenthetjük, hogy minden eddiginél intenzívebben! Február 26-án a Ljubljana-i Balassi Intézet filmklubjában magyar filmestre került sor, melyen a BUSHO fesztivál filmjeinek első részét vetítettük a közönségnek. A filmeket és a BUSHO fesztivált Matevž Jerman filmkritikus mutatta be a közönségnek, majd a vetítés után a program résztvevői számára kötetlen beszélgetést szerveztünk. Március közepén ismét meghívást kaptunk Barcelonába, a Mecal fesztiválra, ahol Görögh Ferenc transzlator képviselte a hazai színeket görög létére. Itt egy nagyszerű szemtől-szembe reggeli során új kapcsolatokra sikerült szert tennünk többek között Argentínából, Amerikából, Németországból és természetesen Katalóniából. Az érdeklődő alkotók kaptak 2-2 percet minden fesztivál reprezentánssal, akár egy rapid randin. Meglátjuk mi sül ki belőle. Végül 2 tengerentúli prezentáció következett. Először a hosszú előkészítés végén március 23-ra konkretizálódott New York, ahol a NYU Tisch adott otthont a vetítésnek, melyről itt olvashattok bővebben, majd néhány nappal később március 29-én bemutatásra kerültek a filmek a Bloomington-i Egyetemi Filmklubban.

  HUNGARIAN TEAM IS SHOOTING

COOL TOUR / JUGENDKULTURARBEIT: After the preparation meeting held in the fall of 2017 in Karlovac and spiced up by flood and fire alarm, the hardest winter-week of this year greeted us where we had to head for the Northern part of Germany instead of the Bahamas, our destination was Oldenburg, a city with 170 thousand inhabitants; we resided in the Cultural Youth Worker Centre.  At last, the implementation phase of the Finding Humanity human rights documentary projects has come, and although we had to let Szimi go for work-related (Arbeit) reasons, Adél joined in the team constituted of Charlotte, Olivér, and Zétény, and she performed her tasks rather splendid, according to her feedback she did not regret coming with us, either: “This week served as a blue print: how it is possible for a group to create and think as one. We gave and took to and from each other thereby creating a community. The group leaders/teachers have shown us how to form a positive, open and brave attitude towards work and so we indeed “found humanity”. I believe we should get together ASAP, talk over and delegate tasks...” According to this shooting begun in the last days of March, which will continue in April, and should everything run smoothly, it can be wrapped up before Labour Day, so that the premiere may be held in Trbovlje in Slovenia, and at the 14th BuSho Festival in Hungary.

  FOROG A MAGYAR “FINDING HUMANITY”

COOL TOUR aka JUGENDKULTURARBEIT: A 2017 őszén lezajlott árvízes és tűzriadós Karlovac-i előkészítő mítinget követően elérkezett az idei tél legzordabb hete, amikor is nem, sajnos nem a Bahamák felé vettük az irányt, hanem Németországnak, annak is az északi részén található Oldenburg 170 ezres kisvároskában található ifjúsági kultúrmunkás otthon volt a célunk, amint azt német tudás nélkül is kideríthettétek a főcímből! Elérkezett ugyanis a megvalósítási fázisa a Finding Humanity emberi jogi dokumentumfilmes projektnek és ugyan egyéb munkaügyi (arbeit) elfoglaltságai miatt kénytelenek voltunk megválni Szimitől, de a helyette a magyar csapatba (Charlotte, Olivér és Zétény mellé) beugró Adél kiválóan helytállt és a visszajelzése szerint ő sem bánta meg, hogy velünk tartott: „Ez a hét remekül megmutatta, hogyan lehet közösen, "egy emberként" alkotni, gondolkodni. Egy közösséget teremtve adtunk egymásnak, és kaptunk egymástól. A vezetők/tanárok megmutatták, hogyan lehet pozitívan, nyitottan, bátran hozzáállni a munkához, „megtaláltuk az emberséget". Szerintem minél hamarabb össze kéne ülni, megbeszélni, leosztani a feladatokat…” Ennek megfelelően március utolsó napjaiban megkezdődött a forgatás, áprilisban folytatódik majd és ha minden igaz még a munka ünnepe előtt elkészül majd az alkotás, melynek ősbemutatója a szlovén Trbovljében lesz júniusban, itthon pedig a 14. BuSho Fesztiválon.

  AKBANK FESTIVAL ISTANBUL

The delegates of antecedent BuSho festivals, that is István Kovács, Dávid Géczy and Gábor Hörcher gave the proverbial baton to Kata Lovrity, who had the honour and privilege to take part at the prestigious Akbank Festival in Turkey with her animation “Volcano Island”, she told us upon her arrival back home: “It was an uplifting experience, thank you for the recommendation! Áron and Co are very cool and helpful people, we were for 5 days in Istanbul, my sister travelled with me. The Q&A was very interesting, the audience addressed unusual questions (and not the run-of-the-mill ones like: why this or that happens in the film, where did we get the idea etc), they had a professional attitude, which implies that they were professionals, the Q&A lasted for circa 1.5 hours. They also posed theoretical questions (why it is beneficial to create a short film, how many short films does it take to gather experience for a feature film, should the budget be tight what shall it be spent rather on, what is it like to work together with a script writer etc). The other Guest, Murat Ugurlu, a Turkish director also gave interesting answers; I think that the members of the audience could take home some food for thought, because our attitudes towards film creation are quite divergent. Nevertheless, it may stem from the difference between animation and live action film. They were open towards learning about animation film development and they also made inquiries about the Hungarian funding system. Áron and Co. warned me: in Turkey, people are not shy to pose questions. I brought to you a catalogue; I hope to give it to you soon. The line-up was rather impressive! Let’s not forget about the venue of the festival: the very own property of Akbank located at one of the busiest streets. Once again I thank you for the opportunity! Have a wonderful day! Kata”.

  AKBANK FESZTIVÁL BESZÁMOLÓ

A korábbi évek BuSho delegáltjai, azaz Kovács István, Géczy Dávid és Hörcher Gábor után ezúttal

Lovrity Kata volt a szerencsés kiválasztott és a Vulkánsziget című animációs filmje, aki meghívást kapott a patinás török Akbank fesztiválra és hazaérkezése után így fogalmazott:

„Nagyon jó élmény volt, köszi az ajánlást! Áronék szuper jó fejek és segítőkészek voltak, végül 5 napig voltunk Isztambulban, a húgom elkísért. A Q&A nagyon érdekes volt, egyáltalán nem olyanokat kérdeztek, mint szokás (pl. miért ez meg az történik a filmben, honnan jött az ötlet, stb), hanem nagyon profi volt a hozzáállásuk, szóval valószínűleg szakmabeliek voltak, kb 1,5 órán át tartottak a kérdések. Gyakorlati meg elméleti kérdéseik is voltak (miért érdemes kisfilmet készíteni, hány rövid után érdemes nagyjátékfilmbe belekezdeni, ha szoros a büdzsé, akkor inkább mire áldozzanak többet, milyen forgatókönyvíróval együtt dolgozni, stb.). A másik vendég, Murat Ugurlu, aki egy török rendező fiú is jókat válaszolt, szerintem nagyon érdekes volt a közönségnek, mert eléggé különbözik a hozzáállásunk a filmkészítéshez. De az biztos az animáció és az élőfilm közötti különbségekből ered. Nagyon nyitottak voltak arra is, hogy hogyan működik az animációs film fejlesztés és pl. a magyar támogatási rendszerről is érdeklődtek. Áronék előre figyelmeztettek, hogy Törökországban az emberek nem szégyenlősek, és sokat fognak kérdezni J Hoztam neked katalógust, majd valamikor odaadom, egy kisalakú füzet. Elég jó volt a film felhozatal! Meg szuper volt a fesztivál helyszín, az egyik legforgalmasabb utcán az Akbank saját épülete, tök jó vetítőjük van.

  FIGARI FILM FEST

Born in 2011 Figari Film Fest is a movie Festival devoted to young and independent cinema, to short films and to young directors’ debuts. Over the years it became a lead event for international cinema. Our Festival, besides promoting international cinema, focuses on developing Sardinian film business and on giving value to the island’s great heritage: its environment, its history, its culture. The Official Competition will be between the best 25 movies over the 2.000 we’ll receive. Every night we’ll show a selection from the movies in front of our audience and our panel of experts, made from film industry’s professionals, which will pick the winners for every category. Every winner will get a plaque and a prize. Your movie must be produced after 01.01.2017 and must be under 20 minutes length
